Climate Education is the First Step Toward Climate Action
Understanding climate change is the first step to making a difference. If people don’t know what’s causing global warming or how it affects our world, they can’t take action. That’s why we offer clear and easy-to-understand climate education. When people learn the facts, they’re more likely to take climate action that supports climate justice and helps protect our planet.
What is Climate Change and Why Does it Matter?
In 2015, world leaders signed the Paris Agreement, promising to keep global temperatures from rising more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Scientists agree that climate change is caused by human activity, like burning fossil fuels and cutting down forests. If we don’t act, rising temperatures will lead to more extreme weather, wildfires, floods, and other serious problems.

Climate Change is Unfair
Climate injustice means that not everyone is affected the same way. Wealthy people, countries, and big companies create most of the pollution, but low-income communities and communities of color are hit the hardest. These groups often have fewer resources to recover from disasters caused by climate change.

How Can We Create a Better Future?
To fight climate change and build a fairer world, we need to:
-
Share resources more equally
-
Support sustainable development
-
Teach people about the causes and solutions of climate change
-
Work together across all parts of society
When people understand the problem and know what they can do, they can use their strengths to create powerful, justice-centered climate solutions.

OUR WORK

EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Climate literacy is a precursor for action. That's why education is a key thematic priority in UNESCO's global framework for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for 2030. Locally, education is a vital component for implementing municipal and organizational climate action plans because it increases awareness and garners public support for sustainable practices. Our programs ensure residents understand the significance of their participation and prepares them to contribute effectively to local climate initiatives.
IMPACT

OUR VALUES
Our values are the ideals on which we refuse to compromise. They take inspiration from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

BENEFICIAL WORK
We believe the jobs necessary to achieve the clean energy transition must advance economic justice and wealth equity. We recognize that engaging in work that benefits people and the planet can significantly impact individual and community well-being.

REDUCED INEQUALITIES
We commit to shifting power and resources to historically-excluded communities, repairing structural harms, and ending racism. Diversity is the ultimate problem-solving superpower and cultural humility is the key to unlocking it.

CLIMATE ACTION
Our love for the Earth and her inhabitants compels us to work to protect existing life-support systems and to stop planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions. Our actions promote sustainable communities locally and impact decarbonization targets globally.

PARTNERSHIPS
Our connections with one another are integral to our ability to slow climate breakdown. We are accountable to our communities and we welcome all in their wholeness. Creativity and expansive ideas come from teamwork, honesty, and the celebration of diverse worldviews and lived experiences.
